Marco Odermatt

Marco Odermatt – The Overachiever On April 10, 2022, the municipality of Buochs and the canton of Nidwalden honored ski star Marco Odermatt and four other Olympians. The procession on Sunday through the village with around 500 participants and the reception of Marco Odermatt in Seefeld Buochs exceeded all expectations. It was an electrifying event with an incredible atmosphere that defied all dimensions.

For the occasion, the SC Buochs had a banner made with golden lettering, celebrating the prodigious alpine skier for his unparalleled triumphs at the Olympic Games, in giant slalom, and in the World Cup.

Architecture meets Illustration

Architecture meets Illustration. Fed up with lockdown in Spring 2021 (and as a birthday present) I started this series due to my fascination for Brutalist architecture and my love for pastel colors. And it was precisely their apparent polarity that made the whole thing even more interesting to create.

Architecture meets Illustration is an ongoing series, depicting astonishing examples of architecture around the globe – to show the beauty in simplicity, geometry and endurance.

Q21

Q21 – Poster Competition. Q21 provides workspace at the MuseumsQuartier Wien for around 50 initiatives, organizations, agencies and editorial offices working in the cultural sector and brings the creative aspect into one of the world’s largest complexes for art and culture.

Q21’s monthly program poster/flyer is designed by selected artists, such as designers, illustrators and photographers focusing on the Q of the brand and its various interpretations according to a specific subject.

I saw the invitation to this competition as an opportunity to explore my understanding of design and therefore designed a variety of posters in different styles. The jury chose two of my designs for their monthly program.

Weltformat

Weltformat – Tourism Exhibition. The Gästival, a festival to mark the arrival of the first tourist to Switzerland 200 years ago, showed off the best tourism posters that promoted the landmarks and must-see places in the region. In co-operation with Weltformat and the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts, the Swiss Museum of Transport has brought together 36 posters – two of mine – which creatively represent the spirit of the time, but still manage to embrace tradition while reflecting on the famous Rigi, the landmark mountain of central Switzerland.

Infotage

Infotage – Poster Design Competition. For creating the Infotage-Poster of our university, I experimented a lot with different colours, materials and combinations of analogue and digital matters. My proposal resulted in a colourful and explosive digital collage, which reflects the diversity and creative power of the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts.

I began by making collages with the head of Athena, the Greek goddess of art and science. The idea was to combine different techniques on the subject of diversity. In its combination of analogue and digital crafts, as well as the shattering head of the goddess, the poster reflects on the overcoming of the old – but also on the evolution of tradition.
